My Profile

Torn apart between Libra and Scorpio, I cannot define my personality as well. I seem to be optimistic yet pessimistically emotional. I want to be the best yet might sometimes be too lazy to put in my best. Whatever that is, I guess my blog speaks better than myself.

Do you know the secret of Iseki Point?

Happened to come across this upcoming movie on yahoo.

It's called..."The Missing" by Tony Leung Ka-Fai 梁家辉 and Lee Sin-Je 李心洁.

A man with plans to propose to his girlfriend hides an engagement ring in the ancient underwater ruins off Japan's Yonaguni Island. However, the romantic underwater proposal soon goes horribly wrong when a freak accident befalls him.

The synopsis totally thrilled me. The plot seems good and therefore, I decided to take a look at the movie official website. http://www.missingthemovie.com/main.html

Wow...I didn't know the movie was actually based on a true setting, an underwater ruins also known as the Iseki Hanto or Ruins Point (Iseki Point). I went to do a short research through the net and that's what I found about Yonaguni and the Iseki Point.
According to some scholars, the underwater ruins could be an ancient city sunken by earthquake 2000 years ago.

It had been an unknown secret until 1986, when a local diver revealed the sunken ancient civilisation deep under water. The ruined structures that were uncovered included

"the ruins of a castle, a triumphal arch, five temples, and at least one large stadium, all of which are connected by roads and water channels and are partly shielded by what could be huge retaining walls." (National Geographic News, 2007)

The civilisation could be traced back to at least 5,000 years ago as a stalactites that were uncovered was carved with the dates. The structures found were so special that they seemed like they were some sort of Japan's pyramids found under water. There were even a turtle-shaped stone which was according to certain scholars the turtle in a Japanese fable.

Ahhhh~~~Mother Earth and her mysterious nature. To me, the most mysterious things left uncovered...perhaps...mostly underwater.
